Get around safely with CU NightRide

0 Testimonials

A free, safe ride for CU Boulder employees.

If you’re working late, attending an evening event or heading home after dark, CU NightRide offers free, on-demand transportation within Boulder city limits for current CU Boulder employees.

CU NightRide is a student-operated safe-ride service that provides transportation between campus and nearby off-campus locations. There is no cost to ride.

How to request a ride

  1. Download the CU NightRide app from the iOS App Store or Google Play.
  2. Log in using your CU IdentiKey.
  3. Request the next available pick-up.

Rides are on demand only and cannot be scheduled in advance. Each rider must submit an individual request. During operating hours, you may also call 303-492-SAFE (7233) for assistance, though phone support may be limited during certain academic periods.

Hours of operation

CU NightRide operates nightly during the academic year, typically:

  • 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday–Thursday
  • 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday

Service continues during spring and summer breaks with reduced hours and staffing. On high-demand evenings or during severe weather, wait times may increase and new requests may be temporarily paused.

Accessibility

An ADA-accessible van is available. Select the accessibility option within the app when requesting your ride, or call dispatch for assistance.

Funded by student fees and serving the CU community since 1985, CU NightRide provides a reliable alternative to walking alone after dark.
